Provide Your X.com Cookies for Nitter — 4000 sats

We run a private Twitter/X mirror and need real X.com session cookies to keep it working. This task pays 4000 sats for a valid cookies file.

You do NOT need to create a new account for this task — you can use any X.com account you control. If you already did the "Create X Account" task, use that one.

What are "cookies"?

When you log into a website, your browser saves a small login ticket called a cookie. That ticket lets a program act as your account without typing the password. We need that ticket for your X account — it lets our mirror service (Nitter) browse X without hitting login walls.

We only use it to read posts. Nothing is posted from your account.

What you need (one free browser extension)

Install the free cookies.txt extension:

  • Chrome / Edge / Brave: open the Chrome Web Store, search "cookies.txt", click Add to browser.
  • Firefox: open Firefox Add-ons, search "cookies.txt", click Add to Firefox.

(Any extension that exports in Netscape / cookies.txt format works — "cookies.txt" is the most common.)

Steps

  1. Open the browser where you installed the extension.
  2. Go to x.com and confirm you are logged in to your account.
  3. Click the cookies.txt extension icon in your toolbar.
  4. Make sure x.com is the selected site (or your current tab is x.com).
  5. Click Export / Download. If it asks for a format, choose Netscape. You'll get a file like x.com_cookies.txt or cookies.txt.
  6. Do NOT log out or clear cookies before exporting — logging out destroys the ticket and the file becomes useless.

The two cookies that must be in the file

Your file MUST contain lines for both of these cookie names on the x.com / .x.com domain:

  • auth_token
  • ct0

These are the two session cookies Nitter needs. If either is missing, the submission is rejected.

A valid file looks like this (example values only, not real):

# Netscape HTTP Cookie File
x.com	TRUE	/	TRUE	1823052068	auth_token	abcd1234...
.x.com	TRUE	/	TRUE	1823052068	ct0	xyz987...

Common mistakes that get rejected:

  • File contains only tracking cookies (guest_id, personalization_id, gt, __cf_bmâ€Ļ) but no auth_token / ct0 — those don't log in.
  • You exported while logged out — the file only has the header line # Netscape HTTP Cookie File and nothing else.
  • You logged out or changed the password after exporting — the ticket is dead. Keep the account logged in after you submit.

How to submit

Either one works:

  • Upload the cookies.txt file with the attachment button on this task, OR
  • Paste the full file contents into the notes box.

Also type your X username (@handle) in the notes — we use it to name your session on our side.

That's it. We check every submission; valid ones are approved and paid.

Make sure you can deliver before claiming — you're committing to complete it.
